ALL THE 5s WITH LOTTO
There could be another big “explosion” to match Guy Fawkes on Saturday night as Lotto players throughout the country vie for “all the 5s”.
Powerball has jackpotted to an estimated $5 million, meaning it’s well on the way to Powerball’s fifth largest prize of $5.6 million.
Strike last reached $500,000 five months ago and is now is well worth a punt this weekend as well.
The largest ever lottery prize in New Zealand is the $19 million shared by 14 lucky winners in September this year. The largest single winner was the $11.4 million won by a ticket sold in Hokitika in November 2002.
“It’s always good news for sales when jackpots reach these levels,” said New Zealand Lotteries Commission Chief Executive Trevor Hall. “The last big Powerball jackpot brought in many new players. And more sales are great for the community because all our profits are transferred to the Lottery Grants Board for distribution to worthy causes.”
