GE Free NZ campaigners successfully set up camp outside Parliament yesterday. “We have gathered near Parliament to strategise for the next stage of the GE Free campaign.” Said George Darroch, GE Free spokesperson. Approximately 75 campaigners with at least 30 tents have arrived from all over the country.
“There is a real positive feeling we can keep New Zealand free of genetically modified organisms. Public support has not diminished; everyone knows that the Government has just got this one wrong.” On Monday there will be a national coalition meeting where we will be discussing the Peoples Moratorium, an initiative from January’s national hui.
Today is Children’s Day. To celebrate, games and fun activities are being organised by the Coalition on Parliament grounds from lunchtime. “It is the children that will have to live with the decisions of today’s Government.” Said campaign spokesperson Lenka Rochford.
“We plan GE educational workshops throughout the weekend, as there has been a lot of public interest since we set up camp. The public are most welcome to attend.” Said campaign spokesperson George Darroch.
