Auckland DHB Boss Abuses his Position by Attacking Doctors and their Union
Auckland District Health Board chairman Wayne Brown has grossly abused his position in launching a gratuitous media
attack on individual medical specialists and their union, Council of Trade Unions president Ross Wilson said today.
In the Weekend Herald article, Wayne Brown attacked Les Galler and David Galler and their union, the Association of
Salaried Medical Specialists.
“It is appalling, and potentially very damaging to the institution he is supposed to lead, for the Government-appointed
chairman of a major public health board to publicly attack his own professional staff and their union,” Ross Wilson said
“The gaffe is compounded by his singling out for public ridicule two individual medical specialists, one of whom was the
ASMS president until recently appointed as senior adviser to the Minister of Health.”
Both Les Galler and David Galler are well known and dedicated specialists strongly committed to the provision of a high
quality and accessible public health system, Ross Wilson said.
“Mr Brown should apologise but past performance suggests this is unlikely for a person of such arrogance.”
