Political Stability In Region Needs Attention

South Asian Association of Journalists (SAAJ) developments in Australia Sydney
The need for co-operation and political stability has never been realised so much, as it has been the matter of concern, today, in the region.
However, the intellectuals, writers, poets, human rights activists and journalists always have found solicitous on peace and stability in the region.
Regrettably, the people of South Asia have not been provided an extent of freedom of speech by the ruling forces in their respective countries so that they could work freely for promotion of friendship and neighbourly relationship among the regional countries particularly between India and Pakistan.
The political and geo-political issues have never been addressed in the light of regional peace and stability. At the same time, the voice of those who wanted to promote friendly relationship between the countries in the interest of the common people of the region has been suppressed.
Now the world is changing and the need is being realised and valued.
Feeling the need of the time as well as the growing concerns on the regional issues rather than states' issues, any South Asian media platform with head office situated outside the region while the branches located in South Asia will provide more freedom to the journalists, writers and other media associates in their work. This is will also maintain its neutrality and impartiality which otherwise will always be in questioned.
Therefore the foundation of South Asian Association of Journalist (SAAJ) has been laid down with head office in Sydney while the branches office will be opened, soon, in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives.
SAAJ's aim will be to bring the people of South Asia and their respective countries together through the media by promoting the healthy journalism focusing on friendship between South Asian countries particularly between India and Pakistan through write-ups, forums and other media activities.
I am pleased to announce my idea has been largely appreciated by the media associates particularly by those who belong to South Asia.
As I am in the process of establishing the entire structure; I need those journalists who belong to South Asia and willing to work in the interest of the people of South Asia through SAAJ.
Following are the main key objectives of SAAJ:
- Promoting views, thoughts and resolutions, features, commentaries and other write-up of SAAJ's members.
- Hold workshops, seminars and forums on human issues belong to South Asian countries.
- Publish periodicals projecting issues of the South Asia particular on basic human rights, health, education, regional integrity and stability, solutions on political and geo-political issues.
More details and prospectus can be provided to the interested journalists. The branch offices in South Asian countries are already being established. In Australia; the organisation of head office is being in progress. The interested South Asian journalists and media associates, living in Australia, should provide their professional credentials along with a short feedback highlighting their intended contribution to SAAJ as soon as possible. Syed Atiq ul Hassan, The Chairman and Founding member, SAAJ, Sydney Australia.
