Event Of The Month - Camden Green Fair
15 June 2003, 12pm - 7pm St James Gardens, Cardington Street NW1
The Camden Green Fair, this year sponsored by Greenscene, celebrates everything going on in Camden, in London and around the world to protect and improve our environment and quality of life - showing everyone how to have fun with a low environmental impact.
There will be a stage with live entertainment, a children area; a health village; organised physical activities; arts and crafts; organic food and drink; demonstrations of energy conservation; projects by local community groups; cleaner vehicles; renewable energy, recycling and other ways to reduce environmental impact; and local, national and international environmental organisations.
This year, the Green Fair is also joining up with the Camden Cycling Campaign¹s Bike Fest, an event that aims to introduce people of all ages to the fun of cycling in London. There will be a car free test circuit with all kinds of human-powered vehicles, bicycle workshops, a children¹s obstacle course, guided rides and opportunities to sign up for cycle training. Up to 5,000 people are expected attend, including local residents as well as people with an existing green outlook.

GAIAN DEMOCRACY A NEW WAY FORWARD
Do you get the feeling decision making is out of our hands? Do you give an insouciant shrug at how everything is shaped and decided behind closed doors and then announced and described in obscure terminology that anyone without a degree in politics and economics cannot possibly comprehend? Well then you are one of Œthe bewildered herd¹ and that¹s the way you are meant to be. Confused, alienated, disenfranchised, disillusioned, pessimistic and above all despairing of your own ability to effect anything very much in the world.
But the good news is, it doesn¹t have to be this way. This month, we explore an alternative system, based on principles of Gaia Theory, that could revolutionise our society and put decision-making power back in the hands of the people.
ANIMALS AT WAR
The dolphins used to detect mines, the chickens used to detect poisonous gases, and the dogs used as sentries, bomb sniffers and to rescue injured soldiers... these are the forgotten victims of war.
Animal rights correspondent Britt Collins reports on the little reported plight of the animals in warfare.
INSIDE THESE CATHEDRALS OF OUR BONES
As long as there is movement, there is life. In fact, even when we think we are stock still, there is still a veritable frenzy of activity going on inside us on a cellular level. Movement truly is the be all and the end all of existence - Or at least it would be were we still in any sort of real communication with the essence of our Being. Sadly, however, most of us seem to have put the messages and requests of our bodies and of our spirits on a call barring system...
Katya Langmurr begins a series of articles on movement and dance and the ways this can benefit our health and wellbeing.
