Maori Television Recruits Team
In one of the largest recruitment exercises for a number of years, the Maori Television Service has partnered with
Executive Taskforce Group to recruit 140 professional and technical team members. Recruitment will be spread over four
tranches between now and August this year.
These tranches have been determined after careful analysis of the critical timeline for getting the television facility
and transmission network operational. This coordinated approach ensures that the right people are recruited to the right
positions at the right time.
MTS CEO Derek Fox said the Service had sought a recruitment partner who would use a collaborative approach to make the
best use of the skills each party would contribute to find the type and calibre of the people required within tight
timeframes.
He said the contract-based approach would ensure a consistent and dedicated team would be in place from project start to
completion and offered some significant efficiency in services delivery.
Mr Fox said the respective roles and responsibilities of Executive Taskforce Group and the Maori Television Service in
the recruitment process had been defined and put in place. The first tranche is about to get underway.
Executive Taskforce Group secured the business with the Maori Television Service in a competitive tendering process.
Their recruitment project manager, Mr Bill Clark said advertising and the search for people with particular and
specialist television and broadcasting skills would start next week.
Mr Clark said the recruitment approach is being designed to attract particular talent across a number of skill areas and
disciplines. “Effectively, Maori Television is starting from the ground up and that will create opportunity for editors,
reporters, production teams, camera, sound and studio crew alike.”
