NZ Defence Delivers Blankets Books In Kabul
The New Zealand Defence Force has delivered school supplies, blankets and warm clothing to Kabul in Afghanistan using an
Air Force C-130 Hercules in the first of two humanitarian missions in the region, the Chief of Defence Force, Air
Marshal Bruce Ferguson, said today.
The humanitarian supplies were air lifted on behalf of a local charity yesterday and delivered to Kabul at NZ9 p.m. last
night (Tuesday, May 13). A second flight is scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday, May 15).
“Our aircraft had flown to the Gulf to provide support for the deployment of the Air Force P-3 Orion which forms part of
New Zealand’s contribution to Operation Enduring Freedom.
“We gladly agreed to a request to provide humanitarian support for the mission into Kabul.”
Air Marshal Ferguson said charities within Kabul would distribute the supplies to children and schools.
