Building Officials Institute welcomes Clerks of Works on board
The amalgamation of the Building Officials Institute of New Zealand (BOINZ) and the New Zealand Institute of Clerks of Works (NZICW) was announced at the BOINZ Annual General Meeting in Hamilton today.
The amalgamation provides for a two-year transition period. Two members of the former NZICW Institute have been co-opted on to the BOINZ National Executive for the next two years.
Outgoing President of BOINZ, Mr Maurice Hinton is enthusiastic about the coming together of the two Institutes “This is an exciting time for BOINZ. The added strengths of the amalgamated organisation will I am sure allow us to make a valued contribution to the resolution of the current Leaky Building Crisis and the ongoing review of building legislation” said Mr Hinton.
Former President of the NZICW Mr Stuart Fields said, “It is sad to see the Institute wind up, however, the amalgamation provides a vehicle for the continuation for the Clerks of Work profession.
“With a membership of over 640, BOINZ offers our members not only economy of scale in administration but provides us access to their numerous networks and services. In turn our members will bring to the organisation a wealth of expertise and experience in construction, together with tried and proven systems of continued professional development and education.”
