The Chairman of the Maori Television Service Derek Fox has welcomed the approval of a budget for MTS saying it will allow the service to get the channel to air as soon as possible.
A great deal of work has been done by the interim management team on matters like building and equipment leases, recruitment, on-going running costs, and training, said Mr Fox.
“We will now be able to sign leases and contracts, and the public will start seeing tangible results of the work that has been done over many months.
Mr Fox says the board is also pleased a decision has been made on what transmission platform the service will broadcast on.
“Getting the budget approved has always been much more crucial to getting MTS on air, than single issues like the transmission platform.
We will now have to sit down with platform providers and have detailed discussions.
