The World Celebrates Capitalism!
From Colorado Springs To Caracas - From Anchorage To Alaska - We're Cheering Human Creativity!
AUCKLAND---November 27, 2002--- This Sunday, December 1, 2002, is
"Capitalism Day" and a group of Aucklanders will gather for the "Walk
to Celebrate Capitalism". From Stockholm to Seattle, from New York to
Nairobi, in over 100 cities in 30 countries, enthusiastic individuals
will salute the mighty contribution of Capitalism to worldwide freedom
and prosperity.
Founded by colorful Australian internet radio host and street
performer, Prodos, the Celebrate Capitalism (tm) Campaign is a
growing, global, grassroots effort to present the reality of
capitalism as a positive, happy and exciting phenomenon.
Drawing on thinkers of the calibre of Thomas Jefferson, John Locke and
Ayn Rand, Prodos explains: "Capitalism is about freedom and human
creativity. The chance to pursue my dreams, and live my life my way.
Do I want to get rich? Or travel? Or write a novel? Or run a charity?
Only Capitalism allows me to live creatively, and to profit myself and
my fellow humans through voluntary, mutually beneficial
relationships."
In Auckland the walk begins around noon at the Harbour end of
Halsey Street opposite the Alinghi Challenge Base. We will proceed
past the Americas Cup syndicates to the Americas Cup Village. Along
the way we will stop at various sites symbolic of Capitalism and
liberty where we will place the Campaign's official "double blue
ribbon" to show our support. The Walk will end at the Immigrant Pub
where we will enjoy a well earned drink. At this time we will present
the Capitalism Award (tm), created to honor the individual whose
"actions most gloriously embody the spirit and principles of
capitalism."
Local Coordinator, Andrew Bates, says "The Walk to Celebrate
Capitalism is a means for us to thank the productive people of the
world - the entrepreneurs, artists, inventors, teachers, scientists -
and all the men and women with the courage to think for themselves.
