ABOUT THE SPEAKERS Philip Ferguson is completing a PhD on the White New Zealand policy. He has had extensive involvement
in working class politics and was an organiser for Sinn Fein in Ireland 1986-1994. He is a founder of revolution
magazine and is one of its editors.
Daphna Whitmore is the editor of The Spark and works as a nurse at a trade union medical centre. She is on the
coordinating committee of the International league of People's Struggles, a democratic movement of over 220
organisations around the world. She is very involved in organising the annual demonstrations on International Women's
Day and International Workers ' Day in Auckland.
Mark Muller has worked in industry for many years and is on the executive of the National Distribution Union. He was in
the 3-month-long pulp and paper workers' strike in 1992 and has led a number of strike struggles since. He is active in
local and international struggles for workers' rights.
Jared is currently a university student and has been active in Wellington distibuting Marxist literature to students and
workers in Porirua and workplaces. Along with other activists he is running regular study sessions on the Marxist
classics.
