September 2002 Reserve Bank Bulletin released
The Reserve Bank today released the September 2002 issue of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Bulletin. http://www.rbnz.govt.nz/research/bulletin/2002_2006/sep2002.html
This issue of the Bulletin explores aspects of the two core objectives of modern central banks - price stability and financial system stability.
The first article examines the economic literature on the relationship between inflation and growth and assesses the extent to which a trade-off exists between economic growth and low levels of inflation.
The second article is the first of a regular series dealing with financial system stability. This issue's article focuses on international economic developments and their implications for New Zealand's financial system.
The final article is an amended version of a paper summarising a recent APEC Policy Dialogue, co-chaired by the Reserve Bank on the theme of strengthening market disciplines in the financial sector. The article discusses the various ways in which financial market participants can encourage banks and other financial institutions to manage their risk prudently.
