FFNZ Welcomes Recognition Of Agriculture In New Cabinet
The Prime Minister has acknowledged the importance of the rural sector by bolstering the ministerial resource in Agriculture, Biosecurity and Rural Affairs, says Federated Farmer's President Tom Lambie.
"The Federation looks forward to continuing a positive working relationship with Hon Jim Sutton in his portfolios of Agriculture, Forestry, Biosecurity, Trade Negotiations and Rural Affairs," said Mr Lambie.
"The Federation also welcomes the elevation of Damien O'Connor to the cabinet in the roles of Associate Minister of Agriculture and Associate Minister for Rural Affairs.
"Trade, Biosecurity and Rural Affairs are of enormous importance not just to the agricultural sector, but all New Zealanders. The potential gains from the WTO Round and enhancing our biosecurity status are foremost in farmer's minds. Farmers will appreciate the high calibre resource the Government has put into these portfolios."
