Dunedin Greens On The Streets for GE Free Day
Local Green Party candidates will join GE Free supporters on the streets of Dunedin tomorrow in an attempt to educate consumers about the dangers of GE food stuffs and the benefits of remaining GE free.
“There’s no way I’d give GE food to my daughter, and I suspect that most mothers feel the same way. We don’t know the long term effects of eating the stuff, and the idea that our kids could be used as guinea pigs for scientific experiments is outrageous.” Said Dunedin North Green Party candidate Pip Direen.
Ms Direen would like to remind consumers that giving the Greens their party vote is the only way to keep GE out of our environment and ensure adequate labeling of GE foods.
“We’re not going out to offend or disrupt anybody. Our aim is simply to give local people access to information on which to base reasonable decisions. This is a basic right of consumers, which the government has failed to uphold. ” Said Ms Direen.
