With 2 weeks to the election the Labour Party and Tony Milne, Labour’s candidate for Rakaia, are turning up the
intensity.
Following on from a regional meeting with Helen Clark on Thursday, this Saturday 13 July, Labour Party MPs, Ministers,
Candidates, and Party members from Ashburton and other areas of the Rakaia electorate, will be in Ashburton to spread
Labour’s good news for Rakaia.
In addition to many party members, Minister for disability issues, Hon Ruth Dyson, and MP for Christchurch Central, Tim
Barnett, will be out and about enrolling, doorknocking, spreading Labour’s message, and enjoying some of Ashburton’s
fine cafés and restaurants.
Tony Milne said that Labour is ready to take Rakaia back. “It has been 67 years since a Labour MP, Mr Herring, held the
Rakaia seat, back when it was still called Ashburton. We have come close several times, but this election the feedback I
have been getting while visiting community groups, small and medium businesses, and individuals, has been extremely
positive, and Labour is polling well enough for Labour to take the seat back”
Tony Milne said Labour will win the Party vote, he will win the seat, and Labour will win a second term of government.
“We have good reason to be optimistic”.
“Labour has been good news for New Zealand and the people of Rakaia. Labour has a superb leader in Helen Clark, Labour
has a great record of achievement, and Labour has kept its word in government”, Tony Milne said.
