CHP Appoints Australian ‘No Republic’ Campaign Director
The CHP has appointed David Elliott of Sydney to be its Campaign Manager in the lead up to the 2002 general election.
Mr Elliott headed the anti-republic lobby for the Australian government, successfully defeating the pro-republicans in just six weeks.
“Mr Elliott has a reputation for promoting political under-dogs and winning. His appointment flags a very different result for the CHP this year,” Party Leader Graham Capill said today.
Mr Elliott is in NZ this week to conduct candidate and campaign training for the CHP. A North Island school is being held in Rotorua on 7 and 8 June and a South Island one in Christchurch on 14 and 15 June.
Mr Elliott said, “The CHP has an infra-structure that gives me confidence that CHP can not only pass the threshold but do much better. The world has changed, and people in many countries are looking to time-tested values to give stability. The CHP offers just these.”
CHP has not previously had a professional campaign unit. “With the Australian appointee so successful in the last few years, we are confident that his obvious expertise will make a huge difference to this CHP campaign,” concluded Mr Capill.
Mr Elliott has also served on the staff of John Howard and former NSW Opposition leader Peter Collins. He has a Master’s Degree in political communication.
