Deborah Coddington to stand for ACT New Zealand
ACT New Zealand President Catherine Judd today announced that writer, broadcaster and award-winning North and South journalist Deborah Coddington, will stand as a candidate for ACT New Zealand at the next election.
“I’m delighted that Deborah Coddington has decided to stand for ACT and on behalf of the Party I welcome her very warmly into our team.
“Deborah is a woman with vision, courage, high ideals and a great depth of compassion for her fellow human beings. She joins ACT at the height of a highly successful journalistic career, the hallmarks of which have been fearlessness, thorough research and a willingness to write truthfully about tough social issues.
“With these qualities, and as a mother and a working woman with a wealth of experience in the real world, I believe she will make a great contribution to promoting ACT’s vision and principles.
“Deborah is especially well placed to help promote ACT’s messages about the need for personal responsibility and the importance of this in ensuring the safety and security of all New Zealanders and in creating a prosperous society.
“ACT intends to continue to be a party of strong influence in the next parliament, and this can only be achieved by having top quality people standing for our list.
“I have always seen one of my primary roles as President as delivering Richard Prebble a top quality team of people who want to – and can – make a difference to the country and the way New Zealanders think about government.
“Among the many things that have impressed me about Deborah is that she has not been afraid to speak out in her professional career and that she has a driving passion, and that is to strive for a better outlook for our nation’s children, especially the poorest both in spirit and resources.”
