Give Us The Facts Mr Ewen-Street

The Green Party agriculture spokesman, Ian Ewen-Street, should do the research and produce the facts which support his claim that organic food is safer than food produced by conventional agriculture or from genetically engineered crops, the Chairman of the Life Sciences Network, Dr William Rolleston said today.
“Mr Ewen-Street needs to let the facts speak for themselves. If there is scientific research anywhere in the world, which shows food from organic production is more nutritious or safer than food from conventional or GM agriculture, he needs to bring that to the public’s attention.
“Otago University has done a major review of published research in the area and has not found anything which supports Mr Ewen-Street’s assertions.
“I would also point out that it is ordinary farmers who produce the food which people eat, not multinational corporations. And farmers also have to produce food for profit,” concluded Dr Rolleston.
