PSA Supports Prison Officer Training

Published: Thu 18 Apr 2002 11:57 PM
Training for prison officer members is a positive step and should be encouraged, PSA national secretary Bryce Fleury said today.
“The PSA has members in the corrections service. We support and encourage training for them and they appreciate the opportunities to take up training. PSA members represent the public service and, where they are coming into contact with members of the public, the public should be well-treated.
Our members in the prison service, who are committed professionals doing an often-difficult job, are comfortable with the prospect of extra staff training.”
Bryce Fleury said training should be considered in a positive way and was a good way for people to learn more skills.
