Bay of Plenty Federated Farmers are delighted to have received 90 enrolments for their Resource Management Workshop in
Paengaroa tomorrow.
Protect Your Rights is the theme of the half day workshop which will focus on resource management issues associated with
pastoral farming. The workshop will use as case studies the recently released Environment Bay of Plenty Land and Water
Plan and the soon to be released Western Bay of Plenty Variation on Significant Natural Area sites.
"It is crucial that farmers understand the importance of getting involved in these type of things as so much of what are
in these plans affect our farms and business, says BOP Federated Farmers Provincial President Scottie McLeod.
"The RMA workshop aims to give farmers the confidence and practical skills to write effective submissions. The RMA is
about enabling development within limits and by getting involved farmers can help set those limits."
A professional training team led by Federation staff will provide hands on interactive learning experience using
material especially tailored to farmers. This project is supported by Rural Women, Federation of Maori Authorities, New
Zealand Landcare Trust and has been partially funded by the Ministry for the Environment's Sustainable Management Fund.
