Young Nationals wish to take up Mr van Dijks's offer to sell the painting bearing Helen Clark's signature but painted by someone else.
"We believe that this will be a collectors item, a momento of one of the darkest days in New Zealand political history," Young Nationals Chair Grant Tyrrell commmented.
"The painting itself is, at best, unique, but we would be prepared to pay upto $10 to take it off Mr van Dijk's hands. We look forward to obtaining a long term reminder of how a Prime Minister disgraced a nation.
"We look forward to hearing from Mr van Dijk," Grant Tyrrell concluded.
