Bugger off Boo Boo! Don't Nationalise Websites
"In another astounding move, the Minister for the Nationalisation of the Production, Distribution and Exchange of Information, Marian (Boo Boo) Hobbs is now promoting a Bill to allow the National Library to force anyone publishing a CDROM or website to provide a 'copy' to the Library. This boggles the mind!" declares the Libertarianz Leader and Coromandel Candidate Peter Cresswell.
"What right does she have to anything anyone publishes?" asks a bewildered Cresswell. "Why can't the National Library just look up websites on the Internet like the rest of us?
Hobbs' past bumbling includes attempts to set up a tax-victim funded, politically correct youth radio network; to make Television New Zealand the glovepuppet of the politically correct chardonnay socialist set, and to force radio stations to play the music she wants them to play. "These 'innovations' having largely (and thankfully) floundered," says Cresswell, it seems she is now desperately reduced to nationalising websites."
"There is no excuse. There is no such thing as 'our heritage.' What I publish is mine - not yours, not Helen Clark's, and not 'the nation's'. It is mine. Bugger off! I do not accept any claim on anything I produce from anyone else, least of all you!"
Just to make it clear, Cresswell affirms Libertarianz would privatise the National Library and abolish all laws requiring publishers to send copies to the government, and focus the government on its core roles of justice, police and defence.
It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!
