Legacy Of Feminists Is Dependence

Published: Mon 11 Mar 2002 01:16 PM
"Yet another International Women's Day passes by with an expensively tax-funded yawn," comments Libertarianz spokeswoman, Lindsay Mitchell. She urges New Zealand women to ignore the "unmitigated collectivist, socialist, sexist, separatist, balderdash "promulgated so vapidly by the apostles of political correctness, and to claim claim back their lives.
"We heard only the usual tired bleating from the Council of Trade Unions about inequality, the lethargic announcement of newly published tax-payer funded Women's Rights propaganda from the Human 'Rights' Commission, and unintelligible inanities from the Peace Movement of Aoteroa," says Mitchell.
She notes that government-initiated preferential treatment or forced gender equity are no better than apartheid. These practices she calls "patronising and harmful to women. We do not need a Ministry of Women's Affairs," she says, "just as we do not need, nor ever have needed, a Ministry of Men's Affairs.
"Feminists have done more to enslave women to the state than to help them become independent. Over two hundred thousand working-age women are dependent on benefits - more women than men. This is the true legacy of the feminists."
Mitchell says the feminists ignored writers such as the American Isabel Paterson who, writing early last century observed that "the power to do things for people is also the power to do things to people - and you can guess for yourself which is likely to be done." Says Mitchell: "It is time to recognise that governments don't help women - they oppress them. Women are more than capable of helping themselves. Libertarianz - and only Libertarianz - speaks for those women who believe in individual liberty and responsibility for self-governance, the superiority of the free market, and the imperative of equal opportunity for all. Libertarianz speaks for women who appreciate the differences between, and the complementary nature of, the two sexes."
"It's enough," she concludes, "to make you vote Libertarianz!"
