It was resolved at our WPG meeting last night that we call for Sandra Lee to resign.

Elections are won or lost in Auckland. The significance of the water issue to voters in the Auckland region should not
be under-estimated.
Let's be there to give all politicians the message! We've had a gutsful of politicians who knowingly misrepresent their
policies. Phoney 'left' or right!
The truth and facts are on our side and we are blowing the whistle. Damn hard.

There are a number of WPG members who voted for Alliance because of their water services policy at the last election.
The WPG believes that it is totally unacceptable for a Minister of the Crown to continue to blatantly mislead both the
public and Parliament about the water privatisation agenda contained in her Local Government Bill.
She must know full well that under her Bill, as currently worded, it would be possible for the Auckland region's water
services to be combined into one big water company, (as promoted by the Auckland Region Water Review), and for the
multi-national water consortium United Water (already based in Papakura) to take over its operation and management under
a public-private- partnership ( PPP).
The threat is not imaginary. United Water, made up of two of the world's largest multinational water corporations
(Vivendi and RWE) didn't exactly come from overseas to New Zealand to just stay in little Papakura with it's 14,000
households! They're a giant multinational water octopus, preparing to unfurl their tentacles.
Water services for the Auckland region have got to be the prize!
And remember David Hawkins, the ex-Mayor of Papkura, who played such a key role in getting United Water into Papakura,
under a franchise, or PPP, now has a key management position at Watercare Services????
Remember, under the Birch report, the Auckland City Council is to investigate public-private-partnerships for both
Metrowater and Watercare!
When so-called 'centre-left' politicians like Sandra Lee, are proven to have the same pro-corporate agenda as the
'right' what's the difference between them?
Politicians like Sandra Lee are more dangerous and more treacherous, because of some previous credibility they may have
had. Wake up and smell the cat pooh!
Look at her present actions - not the past.
Remember Richard Prebble, Roger Douglas and the first wave of 'Rogernomics'. It was the 1984 -87 Labour government which
set up the commercialisation, corporatisation and privatisation of public property at both central and local government
level.
Labour implemented what National could only have dreamed about in their wildest dreams.
You get what you fight for - if you don't fightback - you lose.
The second wave of 'Rogernomics' is via the Tony Blair model of public-private-partnerships.
Under PPPs, private profit is made from public infrastructure, without the corporations having to spend a fortune buying
the infrastructure.
They can lease it long-term, (in Sandra Lee's Local Government Bill, no longer than 15 years for water services PPPs -
but there is nothing in her Bill which stops them from renewing the lease, which is the overseas experience.)
They're hardly going to want to just hand back their 'golden water goose,' which virtually guarantees them a steady
income stream from the vital necessity for life -water. Blue gold.
It's time to make a stand against water privatisation including public-private-partnerships by playing 'hardball' with
those politicians who are promoting them.
Send an uncompromising message to the rest of the Labour/Alliance coalition government.
There is a line in the sand on water privatisation - Sandra Lee is on the wrong side of that line. We want her
resignation. Not more 'spin-doctored' deceit.
So many people had such high expectations of her. Another case of 'today's left - tomorrow's right.' What is it with
that Auckland Central seat?
