Kiwis Asked To Assist Congo
CCF NZ (Christian Children’s Fund of New Zealand) is asking New Zealanders to assist with the humanitarian crisis in
Congo, Africa.
Well-known for its international child-focused development work, CCF is now addressing the humanitarian crisis in Goma
caused by the recent volcanic eruption of Mount Nyiragongo, Congo.
“CCF wants to ensure that as much assistance as possible reaches the people and the communities where it is needed most.
We are making sure that sympathetic New Zealanders are given the opportunity to assist,” says Mr Adam Laidlaw, Chief
Executive of CCF NZ.
“Our values are entrenched in preserving life and humanity, CCF NZ as a high-profile and credible development agency has
a moral responsibility to respond to worldwide emergencies such as the devastation we’ve seen in Congo.”
Aid workers have described the chaos facing displaced residents of Goma, who are now strewn throughout the devastated
region and are in transit between the Rwandan aid camps and the city.
All funds raised through this CCF NZ appeal will go to relief agencies that are attempting to address the potential
health and safety problems that people are facing due to volcanic debris deposits and the lack of potable water, food
and shelter.

CCF is also currently assisting with the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan through its child-focused trauma and
rehabilitation assistance programme in Afghanistan.
