Young Nationals Chair Stands Down
Daniel Gordon National Candidate for Waimakiriri
New Zealand Young Nationals newly appointed Chair Grant Tyrrell today paid tribute to former Chair Daniel Gordon who recently stepped down after two and a half years at the helm. Mr Gordon has been selected as the National Party's candidate for Waimakiriri.
"Daniel's leadership of the Young Nationals has been inspirational over the last several years. Membership of the organisation has increased dramatically, solidifying Young Nationals as the leading youth political organisation in the country. Young National members now have more input than ever with utilisation of communication technologies. Members can influence policy and be involved at every level of the Young Nationals and the National Party," Grant Tyrrell said.
"It is a measure of the esteem that Daniel is held in that he has been selected to contest the seat of Waimakiriri. The current Labour member has not performed either at a local level or in Parliament and it is expected that National will win this seat in 2002."
"Daniel has been a fantastic asset leader of the Young Nationals and Youth Vice President of the National Party. The Young Nationals wish him luck in his future political career - and expect it to be distinguished," concluded Grant Tyrrell.
