~ TUES, 20 November - Coalition for Peace Whangarei meeting, 5pm at the Trade Union Centre, 7 First Avenue, all welcome. The Coalition will meet every Tuesday, same time same place, until further notice.

~ TUES, 20 November - Women for Peace group, every Tuesday at 7pm, at the Shakti Asian Women's Centre, 138 Church St Onehunga, in the conference room. All women welcome, the Women's Centre is women-only space. For more info tel (09) 636 8512.
~ THURS, 22 November - 'Peaceful Living' peace from war, weekly meetings which are open to all and will offer support, stress reduction, alternatives to violence, emotional management and greater self esteem. To be held every Thursday from 7pm to 9pm at the Ranui Community Centre, 474 Swanson Road, Ranui. ~ SUN, 25 November - Silent Peace Vigil from 9-15am to 9-45am, outside the Quaker Meeting House, 113 Mt Eden Rd. These silent vigils will be held at the same time and place while the war continues. All welcome. For more info contact gaelhowell@xtra.co.nz
~ SUN, 25 November - International Day of Solidarity with Palestine and the Palestinian People symposium, with a wide range of speakers, screening of video documentaries, the day's event will conclude with a performance of Dabkah (traditional Palestinian dance). A Palestinian meal will be served at approximately 8-15pm when the Muslim participants are joined with to end the day-long fast (Ramadhan). From 1pm to 9pm, at the University Marae, Wynard Street, The University of Auckland. Free entry but koha would be gratefully accepted to assist with costs. ~ FRI, 23 November - Women reclaim the night march - with firedancing, music, stiltwalking, street theatre, kapahaka and heaps of amazing energy and visibility. The march will weave in opportunities for women to speak out on the issues of violence, domination and exploitation wherever and however it is found, meet 8pm at Chaffers Park; followed by an evening of performance at the Bluenote from 9-30pm, with The Carnies, The Sound Lady (Auckland), Emma Walter (Pukekohe), Mama Bullet, Bellydancing, The Shirleys and more ... women and children only. ~ MON, 10 December - the 16 Days of Action against Violence culminates in the community festival against violence, bringing men and women together in condemnation of violence in our communities and will feature local musicians, marquees, food, dancing and more ... from 8pm-1am in Upper Cuba Street. ~ FRI, 23 November - a silent candle vigil supporting the UN Commissioner for Human Rights and other humanitarian aid organisations such as Oxfam, in calling for a halt in the bombings, 5-30pm at the Church steps, please bring candles and holders; every Friday until the bombings cease. ~ ongoing - the Nelson Peace Group are going to be wearing arm bands with an appropriate message or badge until the war ends. They will carry spares to give to people who wish to do the same.
