lecturer should be dismissed
The Christian Heritage Party Leader, Graham Capill, calls for the immediate dismissal of Canterbury University lecturer
Dr. Anwar from her position at the university.
“It is untenable,” he said, “that a woman holding the views she espouses should be allowed to continue to influence the
minds of impressionable students. It is also preposterous that New Zealand taxpayers should be contributing to her
salary. Appropriate officials should then arrange for her immediate deportation.”
Dr Anwar is reported to have said that she approved the September 11th attack on the Pentagon, because she viewed it as
a legitimate target for Jihad. She allegedly made the comments at a Colloquium on Terrorism at Waikato University on
October 27.
Mr Capill continued, “It is remarkable that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Phil Goff, who attended the Colloquium,
failed apparently to take any action! Also surprising is the lack of reaction from the Opposition, also present at the
event.
“Worrying reports from Australia to-day about the Sydney-based Islamic Youth Movement and their involvement in training
at a remote camp in New South Wales is a further indication that Australasia is not the far-flung outpost and benign
society that our Prime Minister has sought to portray,” Mr Capill concluded.
