Inquiry Concludes No Wrong Doing

Published: Tue 2 Oct 2001 11:56 AM
The following is a statement from New Zealand Army Chief of General Staff, Major General Maurice Dodson today.
“The Chief of Defence Force has investigated allegations made against me in regard to the destruction of one copy of two Communications Trumps documents that were tabled by the Minister of Defence in Parliament. The inquiry has concluded that I have done nothing wrong.”
“I am very pleased about this and feel it is time to move on from these distracting allegations which have come on top of a long stream of leaked information involving half-truths and speculation. This issue has been a “storm in a teacup”.
“One of my duties is to oversee the modernisation and re-equipping of the New Zealand Army so that our soldiers can carry out their work. This remains my top priority.”
