"Damien O'Connor supports the job-destroying Resource Management Act, and the people of the West Coast should throw him
off their protest march," suggested Libertarianz spokesman Richard McGrath today.
"Anyone who thinks O'Connor is on the side of West Coast businesses should read what he said last week," continued Dr
McGrath. "He believes that unless we all embrace the RMA, the country will lapse back to what he describes as 'arbitrary
political processes'.
"He implies that without the RMA to trample all over private property rights and suffocate industry, the country would
lapse into anarchy. How on earth, then, did New Zealand manage to survive for over 150 years without this vile act of
parliament?" Dr McGrath asked.
"If Damien O'Connor was interested in creating jobs and wealth for West Coasters, he'd be pushing for abolition of the
RMA and the restoration of full property rights, on the West Coast and throughout this country," he added.
"Libertarianz are the only party that would dump the RMA if elected," McGrath concluded. "All the other political
parties think the government should have absolute say over what people can and can't do on their own land. If Damien
O'Connor thinks that way, the marchers heading to Wellington should send him packing. If he hasn't got the guts to
resign and stand as an independent, West Coast voters should dump the hump."
It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!
