Re Release Of Living Standards For Older New Zealanders,
Although Grey Power applaud the Government report on living standards of older New Zealanders we question the percentages shown ,as either the Government speaking from a different planet than us .
The people living on the poverty line is not being addressed a great number of our older people cannot afford a phone so would not be included in the survey.
Huge numbers cover up with blankets or just go to bed for warmth because they cannot afford the high cost of electricity..
Again we applaud the present Government for restoring our superannuation, but that only brought it back to the level of 1999-2000.
Grey Power questions the adequacy of the present super . older persons have earned the right to an entitement that allowes them to live with dignity and respect .
Grey Power will lobby for super, health, and all social policies that affect the older New Zealander.
