The Wellington Branch of the Paid Parental Leave Coalition will be staging a day of inaction on Sunday 1 July.
This Sunday is nine months away from April 1st; the date that Paid Parental Leave will be a reality according to the
government budget.
Media reports have identified July 1st as the day women workers can conceive a child, confident they can afford to take
time off work after the birth. To protest that the Government has not announced any concrete plans for Paid Parental
Leave. The Coalition will be advising women that they can't be so confident that they will have paid time with baby, and
will be handing out condoms and leaflets.
"We will be advising women not to get any baby-making 'action' until this government provides them with more security;"
said Dayna Berghan, a spokesperson for the Coalition.
A special guest star, the "Singing Condom" will help spread this message to the women of Wellington.
Activities start at 2 p.m. at the Cuba Mall Bucket Fountain in Wellington Sunday July 1.
