“When it comes to the liberal, anti-capital punishment lobby, there are cries that capital punishment is inhumane and
inappropriate in a civilised society. But where is their cry in response to news that men and women aborted 16,103 New
Zealanders last year?” asked Party Leader Graham Capill.
Mr Capill said, “Family Planning’s pathetic attempt to explain that the 8% rise in teenage abortion between 1999 – 2000
was due to blood clot scares in second generation pills, simply does not wash. There has been an ongoing rise in
abortions every year since the Contraception, Sterilisation and Abortion Act was introduced. It is apparent that Family
Planning’s sex education has failed to stem the tide.
“Dr Sparrow and her death squad cronies know that the only way to draw a veil over the disastrous failure of Family
Planning to control teenage pregnancies and abortion, is to introduce clinical warfare against the unborn – the abortion
drug RU486. In this way, abortion statistics will drop and the evil will be ‘out of sight, out of mind’.
“On current trends and without the abortion drug being introduced, abortions will crack the 20,000 mark by 2007.
“Such barbaric practices are the ultimate in inhumane behaviour and are totally inappropriate in a civilised society.
These unborn children have done nothing deserving of death, yet these little ones are destroyed without the opportunity
to live one day outside the womb.
“New Zealand should be ashamed of these statistics. Money given to Family Planning should be stopped and more effective
sex education programmes introduced. The Minister of Health should refuse to allow a further avalanche of abortions, by
declining to authorise the abortion drug.
Instead of pointing the finger at Americans for executing a man guilty of a heinous crime, we would do well to look to
our own disgraceful behaviour,” Mr Capill concluded.
