~ until 28 June - the government’s Rio +10 series of debates on the topic ‘Our environment – trash can or treasure?’ in the main centres, still to come: 30 May, 7pm in Hamilton at The Performing Arts Centre; 13 June, 7pm in Auckland; 28 June, 7pm in Palmerston North at the Palmerston North City Council Chambers. ~ TUES, 5 June - The Fourth Annual Great Peace Debate presented by the Peace Foundation as the opening night attraction for ignite 2001, a youth festival being held by the British Council from 5 - 12 June. The moot ‘that only conflict can ignite the flames of peace’. Debaters include, Ben Zephaniah, James Elliott, Michelle A'Court, and Roanna Dalziel.
