CATHERINE JUDD ACCEPTS NOMINATION FOR ACT PARTY PRESIDENCY
Wellington public relations consultant Catherine Judd today confirmed that she has accepted nomination for the presidency of ACT New Zealand.
Ms Judd was invited to stand for the position by ACT co-founder Sir Roger Douglas.
"I've decided to stand primarily because I believe in the principles ACT stands for and I would like to see it build its credibility and grow into a more effective, dynamic political force.
"I've had many years' experience in professional communications roles in the public and private sector and in community service and I see this as an opportunity to use that experience and to contribute my particular skills in a way that might make a difference.
"I come to ACT with no baggage and no personal political agenda, but I do have some fresh perspectives on how to build the party and its credibility.
"I have huge respect for Sir Roger Douglas and the many other outstanding and talented people in ACT, both in parliament and in the party structure, and I would regard it as a privilege to work with and for them," she said.
Catherine Judd is director of JM Communications, a Wellington communications and public relations consultancy within financial services company Jacques Martin New Zealand.
Prior to joining Jacques Martin New Zealand, Catherine was Communications and Public Affairs Manager for the National Provident Fund and worked for four years as a communications consultant to The Treasury, the GST Launch Team and various Ministers of the fourth Labour Government. Prior to that, she worked as a public relations and communications consultant in the United States, was a current affairs journalist for Television New Zealand and trained as a documentary film editor and director with the New Zealand National Film Unit.
Catherine is deputy chair of the Board of Trustees of Wellington College where she has served for five years and is a member of the Board of the Wellington Community Trust. She was a director of public company St Lukes' Group Limited from 1993 to 1996 and a Trustee of the Royal New Zealand Ballet from 1990 to 1994. She has won numerous international communications awards.
