'Wouldn't Wipe My Arse With Them': Wharfies' Supporters Call For Boycott Of Carter Holt Harvey Outlets And Products
Wood and paper product company Carter Holt Harvey is boosting profits by replacing the workers who load its products at
South Island ports with cheap, casual, non-union labour.
Now struggling communities like Bluff and Port Chalmers are threatened with dozens of job losses only weeks before
Christmas. The wharfies’ union and friends are fighting back with nationwide pickets and protests.
The attack on the wharfies is the tip of an iceberg: if Carter Holt Harvey succeed in imposing casualisation on the
waterfront many more worksites will be threatened. In the United States one third of labour force is now casualised, and
the real average wage has been in decline for decades.
Some Friends of the Wharfies are supporting the fight against casualisation by BOYCOTTING three consumer items that
Carter Holt Harvey profits from:
Purex toilet paper, Softex tissues, and Libra tampons.
They are also BOYCOTTING Carter Holt Harvey retail outlets.
