International Human Rights Day & Nobel Peace Prize Day
Dear Friends of Tibet
Join our ‘Rally for Human Rights’, Friday 8th December, outside the Chinese Embassy in Glenmore Street from 7.30am to 9am.
The Rally will be commemorating International Human Rights Day, which is a significant day for Tibetans. When Chinese troops marched on Tibet in 1949, Tibet was an independent state. Today China’s continued occupation of Tibet, with the help of several hundred thousand troops, represents an ongoing violation of international law and of the fundamental rights of the Tibetan people to independence.
The human rights of the Tibetan people are still being violated today.
It also marks the anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, which he received in 1989.
We hope to see you on Friday. The more people there, the stronger the message.
For more information contact Sera Robinson on 389 9797 or Chris Mathieson on 589 1146, Joint Chairs of FOT (Wellington).
If you can’t make the protest on Friday, why not write to the Prime Minister with your views.
Help put Human Rights First!
