"Dame Margaret Bazley is chairing an Interagency Working Party of Chief Executive Officers to monitor and report on the adoption of the 50 recommendations in the James Whakaruru report," Children's Commissioner Roger McClay told the Public Health Nurses Regional Forum in Te Awamutu today.
Mr McClay told the nurses that the report had suggested a number of ways of strengthening health procedures to ensure the safety of young children.
"At risk registers, a comprehensive child mortality review system, child health data bases and more training in child abuse recognition were all worth consideration" he said.
