Play It Again
"Last night's Assignment documentary on child abuse in New Zealand should be shown every night for a week. The whole country should see this programme," said Roger McClay Commissioner for Children today. "I congratulate TVNZ and the Assignment team on producing a much needed programme. It demonstrated that this country has a long way to go before we can say this is a great place to raise our children. Change will only come about when New Zealanders are motivated to change their attitudes towards children and violence," he said.
"Every child deserves to live, like most, in a safe and loving environment. Too many children are still being failed by those who are supposed to protect and care for them," he said Earlier today Mr. McClay congratulated the Government on its investment of $2.8m funding for community-based child abuse and family violence community education programmes.
