This evening (7:20pm 15 October 2000) in Dunedin, New Zealand a gift that grows was given to Prime Minister Helen Clark
while she was attending the world premiere of "Southern Journeys" at the Dunedin Town Hall. After PM Clark had entered
the venue, cannabis activist Paul mcMULLan of the Dunedin Cannabis Coalition approached her limousine and presented the
gift to the two officials by the vehicle. "Please give this to the Prime Minister", he said. They recognised the
cannabis seedling and smiled and one replied, "I don't think so". It was left at their feet. The seedling was
accompanied by a letter and three glazed "Tick the leaf ' 99" discs made by award winning Dunedin ceramic artist, Tanya
Carey. This was all tied together will some cannabis thread. The letter had this to say:
Dear Prime Minister,
If the Queen of England can receive a few leaves of the Herb, then the very least our Leader can be offered is a living
seedling, full of potential. Treat the Herb well and you will prosper, otherwise....observe Jenny Shipley! All the best
