Te Puke Pensioner A Victim Of Drug War Insanity

Published: Wed 11 Oct 2000 09:35 AM
Libertarianz Deputy Leader Richard McGrath asks exactly who pensioner George Edwards was harming when he grew some cannabis and sold it to other consenting adults.
"This gentleman was trying to supplement his pension by investing time and energy into a little home industry, when he found himself in front of a court," McGrath said. "This is just ridiculous. The judge should have instead encouraged him to grow more marijuana so that he could earn enough to be independent of his meagre pension."
Libertarianz believe drug use by adults should be legalised, recognising that drug-related violent crime is a direct consequence of anti-drug laws and nothing to do with the drugs themselves.
