Possible Changes To Immigration Levels Welcomed

Published: Tue 3 Oct 2000 03:30 PM
Reports that the Government was looking at ways to increase the number of immigrants into New Zealand was today welcomed by the New Zealand Property Institute.
This follows a story in today's Dominion in which Immigration Minister Lianne Dalziel is reported to be looking at ways to increase immigrant numbers.
NZPI CEO, Conor English, said today, "Quite simply we need more people. If we can't produce enough ourselves, and those that we do are leaving, increasing immigration levels obviously has a part to play."
"It is important that the Government give careful consideration to immigration policy to enhance New Zealand. It is good that they now appear to be addressing this important issue," Mr. English concluded.
