Future Incomes Conference

Published: Mon 28 Aug 2000 05:59 PM
A conference is to be held in Palmerston North on Friday 22 September next on what is probably one of the least discussed but most important topics: Future Incomes.
With over half the labour force income insecure and the labour surplus currently two to three times the official rates of unemployment, and with young people today being the first generation in 100 years to be worse off then their parents, incomes for the future is a topic long overdue for public discussion, according to organiser, Ian Ritchie of Palmerston North.
The conference is being jointly chaired by Hon Steve Maharey and Jill White the Mayor of Palmerston North. It is being held in the City Council Chambers from 8.30 am to 5 pm and is already attracting considerable interest from around the country.
The speakers, also drawn from around the country cover the major perspectives and should lead to a lot of discussion.
