Dear Editor,
How disgraceful that the Singapore Free Trade Agreement has been pushed through in the same way the MAI was.
Negotiations have taken place in secret. Having learned from the MAI debacle the Government this time refused to release
the text of the documentation until signed. Without public scrutiny of this document we are forced to accept the
outcome; it is a fait accompli.
Grave parallels are growing in our country of this continued tyrannical and blatant disregard of people's rights and
opinions. The implications of this Agreement effecting us all are unknown. As the effects of the globalisation of our
world takes place the economic realities bite home in New Zealand. The dole queues grow longer and the overall wage
drops to bring us into line with "Trading Partners" of the Third World.
Bendon gone, wool mills gone, and the National Health system in tatters. We are truly on our way to the New World Order.
The half-gallon, quarter-acre, pavlova paradise gone forever. [166 words]
Sincerely
Robert Anderson
