JOINT EXECUTIVE MEETING 21 August 2000
The National Board of Federated Farmers of New Zealand and the top officials of the Australian National Farmers Federation will hold a Joint Executive Meeting, the first ever, in Wellington on Monday 21 August 2000.
The meetings brings together the elected officials and senior staff of each organisation for a day of discussion on common industry and political issues, including climate change, biotechnology, animal welfare, and international trade.
Media representatives are invited to attend the day-long discussions, which will be in the Discovery Room, James Cook Centra, Wellington. Please contact Gloria Hetherington on 04-473-7269 to register and to receive a copy of the agenda.
The United States Ambassador, Her Excellency Carol Moseley-Braun, will address the Joint Executive Meeting. In addition, the New Zealand Minister of Agriculture, Trade Negotiations, and Rural Affairs, the Hon Jim Sutton, will give a speech on trade issues.
Both organisations are active members of the Cairns Group Farm Leaders, a collection of farmer organisations set up to support freer agricultural trade. They also represent their respective countries in the International Federation of Agricultural Producers.
