McKinsey Study Catalyst For Change

Published: Wed 28 Jun 2000 05:30 PM
New Zealand Meat and Fibre Producers Chairman Chris Lester has described the McKinsey and Co study of the New Zealand wool industry as a much-needed catalyst for change.
"Woolgrowers have been waiting for the McKinsey study for a long time, and it appears to be a comprehensive and bold plan."
"The study, and its recommendations, are a catalyst for much needed change. The future profitability of wool looks very bleak unless the industry reforms itself, and McKinsey's recommendations are a way ahead."
"NZMFP strongly urges woolgrowers to obtain a copy of the study, attend the local meetings and have their say. This is the best chance to reform the wool industry."
"This study must not become just another plan which is read and then ignored. The wool industry has been studied several times before, and now it is time for serious, comprehensive changes that will boost sheep farmers' incomes."
