Capacity the key to Child Youth and Family review
The Government’s move to review the referral and placement of ‘at risk’ children by Child Youth and Family was today welcomed by the PSA, the main public sector union and the representative of the country’s social services workers.
‘The PSA is particularly pleased about the emphasis on assessing the department’s capacity to respond to the demand for these critical services,’ national secretary Lynn Middleton said.
‘We have had concerns about the department’s capacity to respond effectively for some time and these reviews are an opportunity to investigate and test exactly where the problems lie,’ she said.
‘We are keen to have significant input into the reviews and believe the terms of reference will go some way to investigate the difficulties the department has and our members work under.’
‘We will be working with our members from the department across the country and collating their views and opinions in making our submissions,’ Ms Middleton said.
