QUEER AS FOLK SHOULD BE REMOVED QUICKLY
Party Leader Graham Capill has moved quickly to condemn last night’s screening on TV4 of the first episode of Queer as Folk.
Mr Capill explained, “I felt sick to think that our nation’s young people were being fed such immoral material.
“It is inexcusable to screen paedophilic homosexual acts on national free-to-air television. Depictions of such illegal acts may well result in greater child and young person abuse.
“I have written, via the Party’s lawyer, to TV4 and asked them not to screen it. That they ignored such pleas only increases their culpability.
“I do not think showing homosexual acts between an adult and a 14 year old (who may, in fact, be younger) is ever acceptable. Neither is it right that such a young person be depicted as acting under the threatening eye of an adult homosexual.
“To show a homosexual ‘couple’ claiming a baby that they have arranged to adopt and then to talk about the sexual exploits of the adult and the boy by describing them as “both having a baby”, is disgusting in the extreme and probably unacceptable to most of the public.
“I hope that the public will flood TV4 with complaints and that such trash will find no foothold in this country,” Mr Capill concluded.
The Christian Heritage Party will be exploring other legal remedies to have the programme banned.
