ACT MP Donna Awatere Huata today said she welcomed the ACT Leader Hon Richard Prebble's instruction to the Cabinet
Office to investigate the files relating to the former Minister of Immigration's granting, as an exception to policy,
permanent resident status to certain Chinese citizens in connection with Mr Wi Huata.
"As my husband has stated it was he who made the application to the Minister. There is no suggestion that there was
anything improper in my husband making that application. There is no suggestion that my actions have been improper.
"I want to make it very clear that my husband's work on this project has no link to myself or to the ACT Party. To that
end, I stand by ACT Leader Richard Prebble's statements that if there is found to be anything that suggests my behaviour
as an ACT MP has been inappropriate or has fallen below the strict standards set by the ACT Party I will be the first to
both acknowledge it and to tender my resignation.
"As a public figure my life has always been an open book and I agree with Richard Prebble's call for scrutiny of this
matter," said Donna Awatere Huata.
