The Rt Hon Winston Peters MP, Leader of New Zealand First, today said that the current debate on tax highlights the
problems that both National and Labour have with the extremist parties propping them up.
“It is becoming increasingly clear to the New Zealand Public that if you vote National you get ACT and the extreme
right, and if you vote Labour you get the Alliance and the extreme left.
“If taxes go up we will effectively be sending our most successful people overseas and if taxes go down this country
will face societal disaster.
“There is only one vote that will guarantee a common sense, middle of the road approach to politics and taxes – and that
is a party vote for New Zealand First,” said Mr Peters.
Mr Peters said that the public smiles were gone and the gloves were well and truly off between the two old parties and
their extremist cling ons.
“As a result the public are witnessing for almost the first time the chaos that would result from putting the extreme
right or left into government,” said Mr Peters.
